Many European countries are setting up helpline services to support their people with issues related to COVID-19.
Some are embedded within the existing national systems, others are set up from scratch and are using volunteer professionals. Some are intended for specific sectors of the population.

More than 80 psychologists of the Order of Psychologists responded to the initiative for online psychological counseling WITHOUT PAYMENT. Colleagues with several years of experience in the profession from all over Albania, will offer from TODAY, psychological service for every citizen, who displays a loaded emotional state during these days. The service will be offered in two time slots during the day: 10.00 -12.00 and 17.00 - 19.00 from Monday to Saturday until 20.04.2020. (If necessary, this period will be postponed).

Psihološku pomoć građani Istarske županije mogu zatražiti na broj 091/984-9184 od 00 do 24 sata, svakog dana u tjednu.

A special telephone line for psychological support of the advisory centre for research and psychological services (Σ.Κ.Ε.Ψ.Υ.) has been created, which is addressed to all medical, nurses, administrative and other staff of the state and private hospitals and clinics of the paphos province.
The purpose of the telephone line is to psychological support for stakeholders in issues related to the pandemic pandemic and any impact the pandemic may have on their daily lives.
The Consultants of the line, under the supervision of the psychology department of Neapolis university, handle all incidents with full professionalism, respect the principle of anonymous and do not ask for any personal information.
The opening hours of the support line are: Monday to Sunday, 08:00-20:00

The creation of the Psychological Counseling Helpline integrated in the helpeline of the National Health System (SNS 24) responding to a request from the Minister of Health was an important moment for psychologists and psychology in Portugal.
The helpline works 24/7 and with about 70 Psychologists who met a set of requirements: having been trained in psychological intervention in crisis or being a security agent; be a specialist in clinical and health psychology; have completed the training course for the Psychological Counseling Helpline organized by the OPP.
First, the OPP coordinated a group of experts in screening and another in psychological counseling who developed the algorithm. This process was then validated by the Directorate-General for Health. Then, the Shared Services of the Ministry of Health built the technological solution (webapp) and hired Psychologists.
OPP created a group of supervisors responsible for supervising the helpline's psychologists who work in an online forum.

- podporo obolelim in svojcem oseb z boleznijo COVID-19;
- podporo ob izgubi bližnjega zaradi bolezni COVID-19;
- priporočila in podporo pri vzgoji otrok in izvajanju šolskih obveznosti v teh posebnih okoliščinah;
- podporo ob soočanju s partnersko krizo v času bivanja v izolaciji;
- razmislek o drugih duševnih spremembah, ki jih doživljamo v tem obdobju.

COP ( Consejo General de la Psicología de España) has developed several support guides dealing with scientific information relating to the psychological assessment to different risk groups and audiences affected by COVID-19 infections.
They focus on the main disorders caused by this specific CORONAVIRUS: anxiety, fear, apathy, sadness, anguish, anger, isolation and worry. Their target has considered group age profiles and health professionals including psychologists. The creation of these guides is a joint venture between the Ministry of Health and COP (Spanish Psychological Association).
The collaboration between both institutions has led to other important initiatives such as:
- establishing a National Call Center to deliver psychological assessment to the population in general, front-line health workers and families with deceased relatives. Funded by the Ministry of Health and full responsibility of COP- The initial number of psychologists is 50- They all have been selected and trained by COP. The call center occupies one of COP’s floors (500 square meters), and all the security materials are provided by the Ministry of Health.
- Specific on-line psychological assessment services have also been created to attend the needs of all health professionals- These call centers are mostly organized at the Regional Level as a collaboration between the Regional Health Agencies and the local COPs. They are funded by the Regional Governments.
