Seminar hosted by the National Psychological Association Ukraine, Kiyv
November 30, 2019   

Dr. Rosaleen McElvaney,  Chair of the EuroPsy European Awarding Committee, 

attended a seminar hosted by the National Psychological Association Ukraine in Kyiv on 30th November, 2019 and presented an outline of the EuroPsy certification process.

The seminar was attended by a large number of University professors who provide education and training for psychologists in Ukraine. We look forward to working closely with our colleagues in Ukraine to develop procedures for issuing the EuroPsy.





Supervision Workshop “Train the trainers”
January 10, 2020 - Brussels

Dr. Aisling McMahon from Dublin City University Ireland ran EFPA's third 'Train the trainers' workshop on clinical supervision in January 2020. This workshop focused on training the attendees to teach two supervision models which are very popular in the UK and Ireland - the Seven Eyed model (attending to process in supervisory work: Hawkins & McMahon, 2020/in press) and the Cyclical model (attending to structure: Page & Wosket, 2015).

EuroPsy CPD

EuroPsy certificated owners are required to spend a certain amount of time on Continued Professional Development (CPD) and to maintain their competence by practice.

The record of undertaken activities is evaluated when the EuroPsy certificate is renewed. There is a wide range of activities that psychologists undertake as part of their CPD:

     Attendance and participation in accredited courses and/or workshops aimed at further professional development

     Development of specific new skills through practice at work

     Participation in peer supervision 

     Participation as a supervisor

     Attendance at a professional or scientific conference

     Authorship or co-authorship and/or editing of publications on research and/or professional issues; presentations to professional audiences.

 Editorial work on journals and books in psychology

A Model of the Supervised Practice of Psychologists

EuroPsy - the European Certificate in Psychology represents an educational framework and minimum standards for the training of psychologists across EU. Within this framework, a year of supervised practice is required for entry into independent practice.

The basic condition for the implementation of supervised practice is to educate mentors of supervised practice.

The authors of the book developed such an educational program in 2010 within the European Social Funds project called 'Establishing a Network of Mentors and Training for the Supervised Practice of Psychologists'. This book presents the project and its results.
