The workshop “Psychological practice supervision in the context of the EUROPSY: Evaluating competences” was held in Brussels past 17th May, giving continuity to the workshop “Designing and running supervision training courses: best practices recommendations” held on May, 2018 and facilitated by Aisling McMahon.
This year, Annette Kreuz and Jose Ramos (Spain) acted as facilitators under the chairing of Rosaleen McElvaney, with almost 20 participants from around Europe.
The Workshop’s main goals were to describe the rationale and the basis of EuroPsy certificate and its implications for the supervision of psychological practice of professionals applying for the EuroPsy certificate. It was part of the practice to analyze how to help supervisees develop supervisory competences and how to help supervisors evaluate these competences and finally, develop a collaborative reflection focused on the supervisory behavior and competences.
After a short overview about the context and the process of EuroPsy certificate, participants analyzed and translated the EuroPsy competence model to professional practice in their own fields of expertise, refining the meaning and individual understanding about professional competences.
The second part of this workshop focused on case studies to analyze competences for supervision and providing recommendations about the supervision process of professional practice for EuroPsy candidates.
