2019 World Family Therapy Congress

The 2019 Congress will celebrate the evolution of family therapy around the world.  The Congress will focus on interactional methodologies for working with families and how those changes impact the families with which therapists work.  The 2019 Congress, like all IFTA Congresses, will also feature many approaches to a variety of problems and ways of coping with them. Early Psychosis: Latest Developments in Prevention, Prediction and Treatment 

 

April 8, 2019 - London, UK

 

People who experience a psychotic illness, such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder, can and do recover. However, long-term recovery is dependent on the early detection of psychotic symptoms and the delivery of timely and effective treatment. This one-day masterclass will provide an overview of the latest developments in early intervention in psychosis. It is aimed at both clinicians and researchers with an interest in the prediction, prevention and treatment of the illness.

The masterclass, organised by the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) at King’s College London, will be delivered by clinical academics with extensive experience in this area, including Professor Sir Robin Murray (IoPPN), Professor Philip McGuire (IoPPN), Professor Patrick McGorry (University of Melbourne) and Professor Peter Uhlhaas (University of Glasgow).

18th International Forum on Mood and Anxiety Disorders

 

July 4-6, 2019 - Vienna, Austria

 

This year is expected a lively discussion on treatment resistant depression with new findings on rapid response within a day in TRD. 

 

There will be overviews of the contribution of inflammation to mood and anxiety disorders and also the link between nutrition and psychiatry. Updates on new antipsychotics in schizophrenia and on the treatment of negative and depressive symptoms in schizophrenia will be presented. New studies on bipolar disorders have helped clarify the issues of treatment of bipolar depression and the associated cognitive impairment. An update on the risks of valproate will question its widespread use. 

 

There will be sessions on anxiety disorders and a focus on long-term treatment and on comorbidity with alcohol dependence.
