The psychological impact of quarantine
One of the key public health objectives is to reduce contact between people as this reduces the risk of infection being passed from one person to another. In order to do this people are being asked to isolate themselves and also if they are infected to remain in quarantine until they have recovered. The experience of isolation is known to be difficult and for those particularly affected, people in higher risk groups, this can have mental health consequences.
