Annual EuroPsy EFPA Chairs Meeting
Brussels, March 2019

On the 15th of March 2019, the chairs of National Awarding Committees (NACs), and Specialised National Awarding Committees (SNACs) were once again welcomed to Brussels for the Annual EuroPsy EFPA Chairs Meeting.

During this meeting various topics regarding the EuroPsy were discussed, such as how the EuroPsy regulations have impacted on university curricula and legislation in those countries implementing the EuroPsy, the updated format of the EuroPsy website and register, developments in establishing opportunities for supervised practice, training programmes for supervisors, and future plans in various countries for promoting the EuroPsy.

Per A Straumsheim shed some light on a Pilot Project on the utilisation of “enabling competencies” of the EuroPsy standard in the selection of psychologists in Norway.
In the later part of the meeting Dr. Rosaleen McElvaney, Amy Byrne and Ivana Marinovic facilitated a workshop on “Promoting the EuroPsy”.
(S)NAC chairpersons and Member Association representatives shared experiences of promoting the EuroPsy, whilst stimulating ideas to further this promotion in coming months. Similarly, Dr. Salvatore Zappala offered a workshop on “How to Start a National Awarding Committee (NAC) - Step by Step”; both programmes were very well received by those attending.

Finally, we look forward to the XVI European Congress of Psychology in Moscow later this year. All members were thanked for their attendance and for sharing their experiences in another successful meeting aimed at developing and promoting the EuroPsy certificate.
