Provisional Specialist European Awarding Committee in Clinical Neuropsychology
February 24, 2023
EFPA’s Provisional Specialist European Awarding Committee in Clinical Neuropsychology will hold its second face-to-face meeting in Brussels on the 31st of March 2023. In this meeting the Committee and its representatives from 5 countries (Austria, Cyprus, Finland, Portugal, and Spain) will focus on discussing the competencies in Clinical Neuropsychology. The basic EuroPsy certificate presents a benchmark for independent practice as a psychologist that can be issued to a psychologist who has demonstrated that they have met EuroPsy standards. For the specialist certificate, more advanced and more field-specific competencies need to be delineated for both the knowledge-based and skills-based domains. Good examples in the field of Clinical Neuropsychology exist in Europe and in the US. EFPA’s Standing Committee in Clinical Neuropsychology conducted a series of expert interviews regarding the competencies expected from a Clinical Neuropsychologist, and the report published in 2022 will form one basis for the discussion of the committee.
