Welcome to the holiday edition of our EFPA News Magazine. In this summer edition we report from the General Assembly of June 29, 2021 which was certainly the central highlight for our federation. We had our first virtual General Assembly, in which about 100 delegates and observers participated. In the run-up to the meeting, there were a series of conditions to be met in order to have a valid GA complying with Belgian legislation about virtual General Assemblies.
There were a lot of things to consider, we succesfully tested a new digital voting tool, which resulted in a smooth and reliable voting procedure during the meeting. Our Head Office did an excellent job in making all this possible!
And so all delegates were able to focus and concentrate on the key issues of the Assembly: reporting about the activities of the Executive Council in the past 2 years, the deliverables and goals that were achieved by our various groups, the financial reports, as well as the presentation of the activity agenda of the Executive Council for the coming two years.
Looking back on the work done and the many efforts made the last two years, we’d like to thank our member associations for their dedicated guidance and support of all our projects and plans. The activity report 2019-2021 of the Executive Council shows what has been achieved since their instalment in the summer of 2019.
Here, a big thank you to the Executive Council and the staff in the Head Office! All delegates were also very impressed by the achievements of our working groups. We were able to present a multitude of work results. And I would like to repeat our sincere thanks to all volunteers in the many EFPA groups and to the convenors.
The financial reports clearly show the progress which has been made in the preparation of data and in linking strategy and projects with our financial resources. Extra thanks are due here to Nicola Gale as Treasurer and Sabine Steyaert as Director. Another important highlight of the Assembly was the election of Katerina Bartosova from Czech Republic as a new member of the Executive Council. We are very happy that we can now tackle all the different projects and plans together with Katerina. At this point, our appreciation goes to Josip Lopizic, who has left the EC. We thank him very much for his commitment and wish him and his association all the best for the future!
After all the work, rest is important now! And therefore I combine my thanks for all your support with all good wishes for a restful and truly relaxing holiday season.
Your Christoph Steinebach,
EFPA President
ECP2022: Call for abstracts now open
The Scientific Programme Committee is pleased to invite colleagues from around the world to submit their abstracts for papers to be presented at the 17th European Congress of Psychology - ECP 2022.
The goal of ECP 2022 is to provide a forum in which the wealth of research findings, practices, and theories can be evaluated in light of the opportunities, but also the responsibilities, that psychology has as a hub science in modern society. Given the new challenges psychologists face in dealing with people from increasingly diverse cultural backgrounds, the lack of social and economic security, the climate crisis, and the mental health issues recently brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, it seems that psychology's contributions to society have never been more important.
ECP 2022 opens the space for discussion of current trends and cutting-edge research, as well as new advances in different areas of psychology and across disciplines. The Scientific Programme Committee encourage submissions that approach the ECP 2022 main theme Psychology as a Hub Science from different perspectives. However, submissions on other topics are also welcome, and sessions on a variety of interdisciplinary and theoretical perspectives are encouraged.
ECP 2022 offers delegates the opportunity to submit research findings or professional experiences from the field in different formats: symposia, thematic sessions (papers), posters, workshops, and pro et contra discussions. In order to create coherent sessions and a grouping of similar papers, authors are asked to choose a thematic area that best describes and most closely matches the content of their abstracts. All authors are requested to read the submission guidelines before submitting an abstract.
Abstracts accepted for presentation will be published in the special edition of the Slovenian online journal Horizons of Psychology prior to the ECP 2022.
