This current issue of our News Magazine once again highlights what has been decided at the past General Assembly and what topics will occupy us in the coming months. But of course, this issue just before Christmas is also a place to say thank you.
The further development of our EuroPsy certificate is an important strategic concern of our federation. At the last General Assembly meeting, a detailed report was given on the wide-ranging work that is necessary to maintain the high quality of the EuroPsy and to develop it further.
The thanks of the General Assembly were especially directed to Rosaleen McElvaney, who is in charge of EuroPsy with great expertise and personal competence, and to all those in the association who take care of EuroPsy. Another important strategic concern is the close cooperation with our associated member associations. It was with great pleasure that the General Assembly accepted three new associated members: ESPLAT, EHPS and EACLIPT.
Another important decision concerned the congress venue of the European Congress 2025, which was a decision taken after three very convincing presentations by the bidders. The thanks of the delegates at the Assembly were rightly extended to all those who had applied to host the 2025 ECP. And our congratulations go to Cyprus as the 2025 Congress host!
Important issues will continue to accompany us in the future. These include climate change, the European Year of Mental Health, and the question of psychology as a regulated profession. We will also pay special attention to these topics at our upcoming congress in Lubljana in 2022. During the past General Assembly meeting, Marko Vrtovec presented the very multi-faceted scientific program of ECP 2022.
But the congress will also be a platform to bring together our many volunteers and to thank them for their efforts. We are also planning special events for this purpose.
The General Assembly has once again made clear what a variety of reasons there are to say thank you. Sincere thanks are due to our Head Office team for the reliable and competent preparation and implementation not only of the General Assembly but also of the many other events, and for the excellent supervision of the many tasks that arise throughout the year. Many thanks also to the members of the Executive Council for their commitment and for their tireless care for the concerns of EFPA and its member associations. But special thanks also go to all the groups of EFPA who have taken up the many current concerns, worked out positions and prepared important decisions. And a special thanks to all of you for your support and commitment to EFPA and psychology in Europe.
Looking back, I would say that for EFPA 2021 was an intense year, a difficult year, but also a very successful year. Now comes the time to relax, to celebrate all what went well and all the successes, and also to regain our strength.
In this sense, I wish you, your families and all who are important to you all the best! Take good care of yourselves.
With a heartfelt thank you,
Christoph Steinebach,
President EFPA
